Frequently Asked Survivor Questions

Q. Who will know that I have been in contact with the centre?
A. Only support workers will know. Our service is completely confidential within the centre with the exception of any child protection issue, but this would be fully discussed with you before anyone else is approached. Sometimes survivors ask us to get in touch with others for them and this we will gladly do, but we require written permission from you before contacting anyone on your behalf. Doing this ensures you have control and choice back in your life.

Q. Do I have to report what happened to me to the police?
A. NO. It is entirely your choice whether or not to report to the police.

Q. How do I contact you?
A. Telephone: 01786 471771

    Male Helpline: 07733964478
Email: csrcc@ic24.net
or write to: CSRC&SAC
1, Glebe Avenue
Stirling
FK8 2HZ

Q. Do I talk to an answering machine when I phone you?
A. Trained staff answer the Helpline during the times stated below:

Tuesday 11am - 1pm
Wednesday 11am - 1pm
Thursday 7pm - 9pm
Sunday 1pm - 3pm

Out with these times, if no one is in the Centre, an answering machine will take your call.

Q. How quickly will you get back to me if I leave a message on your answering machine?
A. Your call will be discreetly responded to usually within 24 hours.

Q. I am a bit bothered someone will see me going into the centre. Can you help?
A. We can arrange to meet you somewhere else convenient and where you feel safe.

Q. Can the police get a hold of your records?
A. We do not keep written records. Any notes jotted down by support workers, which you are entitled to see, do not contain any information that would ever identify you and are destroyed when you stop receiving support.

Q. My case is going to court but I am really scared nobody will come with me. Will you support me?
A. We will support you throughout any medical and legal procedure including going to court with you.

Q. I was working as a prostitute when I was attacked. Does this affect the way you would support me?
A. ABSOLUTELY NOT. It's not about what you do; it's about what was done to you.

Q. My partner forced me to have sex. Is this right?
A. This is Rape. Nobody has a right to sex. It is against the law to force or coerce anyone to have sex, married, cohabitating or not!

Q. I keep getting flashbacks and nightmares. I can't sleep and I'm scared to go out of the house. Is this normal?
A. These are normal reactions when you have experienced any trauma and we have information, which may help and we can support you to deal with these effects.
