Community Education

Central Scotland Rape Crisis & Sexual Abuse Centre offers workshops for schools and community groups on topics relating to the cause and effect of sexual violation. We will adapt presentations to meet the needs of specific audience.

Professional Training

Central Scotland Rape Crisis & Sexual Abuse Centre provides training for organisations such as police, education, social work and health care professionals and other interested voluntary and statutory agencies whose clients and service users may include survivors of rape, sexual assault and child sexual abuse. We will adapt training to meet the requirements of specific agencies.

Education and Training

Central Scotland Rape Crisis & Sexual Abuse Centre offers education and training programmes to statutory and voluntary organisations who may come into contact with the problem of sexual violation in the course of their work.

We have many years experience of dealing with the cause and effect of rape and sexual assault and have developed a particular expertise in the area of of child sexual abuse.

The training and educative facility aims to provide information, explanation and practical ability to enable sensitive and effective management of disclosure of rape or sexual abuse, the consequences and, to further develop the existing knowledge and skills of the participants.

A variety of courses are available which will meet any particular organisation's needs.

To date, courses have been organised for the police, teachers, guidance counsellors, community workers, residential care workers, social workers, psychiatric nurses, community nurses and those working in the field of addiction. Courses are delivered in the workplace, or in the Central Scotland Rape Crisis & Sexual Abuse Centre with individuals from similar professional backgrounds. This provides an excellent forum for exchange of ideas and skills and of course for networking.

The maximum number of participants is twelve and smaller groups are welcome.

A fee is charged for training.

Public Awareness Education

Central Scotland Rape Crisis & Sexual Abuse Centre can provide free talks on rape and child sexual abuse for schools, colleges, community groups, women's groups and parent organisations and other interested groups.

We are continually developing leaflets to increase public awareness of the reality of sexual violation in our society and they are available on request. We also have a comprehensive resource library.

Youth Project

Several years ago, following consultation with service users about we might best address raising awareness of the issues surrounding Rape, Sexual Assault and Child Sexual Abuse, a need for attitudinal change in young people with reference to all kinds of violence was identified.

Using the premise that prevention is better than cure, we have provided a service for local schools for several years now on an ongoing basis. The program is usually spread over 6 weeks. and addresses the issues surrounding violations of all kinds and aims to enable young people to become enlightened through exercises, the use of a video and discussion groups about all types of violence, confrontation, respect, rights and acceptance of responsibilities.
